My wife wasn’t feeling well, and we planned for her to cook dinner that night. I knew she wasn’t going to be able to do it or even have the taste for it after a long day of work.
My day was long too, and I only had enough energy left in the tank to grab food, so I prepared for takeout.
After picking up the ramen, I realized I didn’t think twice about the budget.
There are going to be times when money just doesn’t matter.
Get what you want in that moment. You will see tomorrow.
Here are other ‘Fuck the budget’ moments.
Say Yes to Experiences
When it comes to experiences, ‘Fuck the budget.’
I’ve had some of the best experiences no matter what financial state I was in.
Skydiving, parasailing, and eating dinner next to a wall-to-ceiling aquarium in Dubai are just a few, and I never regretted spending the money.
Thankfully, it all worked out. That’s just the financial risk I’m willing to take.
Cherishing Family Photos
Ever since my wife and I met, we’ve taken professional photos.
It’s just been our thing.
The photographer who took many of our photos in the beginning was our favorite, but unfortunately, he passed away.
Ever since, the search for a new one has been damn near impossible, and with that comes strikeouts with differently priced photographers.
But no matter the cost or our financial standing at the time, we continue our annual photoshoot.
The Cost of Leveling Up
My style always matches who I am in the moment. When it’s time to grow from my yesterday, I say ‘Fuck the budget.’
In 2024, I bought a new car. I had my last one for a decade, and let’s just say there were a decade’s worth of memories in there that did not need to live while singing Billie Eilish with my daughter and wife as my passengers.
That car wasn’t who I am at this moment. I had to get a new one to make new memories.
Giving Without Limits for Your Kids
It’s great to have a partner who shares the same amount of love for your child.
We both aim to give her the world and make the best decisions for her life.
When deciding on Christmas gifts, if we have the money, we’re going to get her what we want.
As individuals, we work really hard.
To not give our daughter a Christmas full of love, experiences, and gifts would be doing ourselves a disservice.
Spend with Purpose
When deciding to disregard the budget, ensure the expense is valuable to you.
Live in the moment, and make sure the decision doesn’t end with you in debt or a negative checking account. But enjoy your day.
You only live once, and money comes and goes.
